Deutsche Wohnen AG Presents First Sustainability Report
Berlin/Munich, 9 October, 2013 Deutsche Wohnen presented its first sustainability report today as part of the 16th international real estate trade fair EXPO REAL. The report conforms to the international standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the industry-specific requirements of the European Public Real Estate Association (EPRA). It achieved application level B+ and was officially verified by the GRI. In publishing this report, Deutsche Wohnen is primarily addressing interested financial market experts and political experts, and is providing comprehensive information about its sustainability strategy as well as central economic, ecological and social key figures.
More Than Just Growth, the title of the sustainability report, represents the commitment of Deutsche Wohnen to generating sustainable growth, remaining successful in the long term, and continuing to be an attractive employer. 'Housing provision and demographic change are key challenges that the Deutsche Wohnen Group is facing. We believe that responsible company management should avoid risks and make the most of opportunities,' explains Michael Zahn, Chief Executive Officer at Deutsche Wohnen AG. The sustainability program, presented publicly for the first time, is set to be developed in the coming years.

To ensure that the sustainability strategy and the corresponding reporting process can be established on a solid foundation, Deutsche Wohnen asked its main stakeholders for their opinions on the company. For this purpose, interviews were held with investors, tenants, political representatives, journalists and business partners, and an online questionnaire was carried out with around 550 stakeholders taking part.

A comprehensive online document is available on the website www.deutsche-wohnen.com/html/en/press-releases.php in addition to the printed publication. The sustainability report was compiled in collaboration with the German agencies akzente (Munich) and HGB (Hamburg).
